The EDH Project

The EDH Project has been an idea I’ve been working on since I started playing the Commander format. I love building, tweaking, and thinking about new decks, and I love the casual EDH format. Hence, the EDH Project is a compendium of at least one deck I have built for each of the various colour combinations possible in Magic, be it single-color, two-color, three-color, four-color, five-color, or colorless. (Other people have called this sort of EDH project a “Prismatic” project.)

I will be keeping these decks together and updating them as new sets get printed. I am going to try to write an in-depth primer for each deck as it is finalized, and keep that updated as well.

I have a couple of mini-guidelines I have tried to stick to. Each deck is themed; I plan to build around the general and his/her abilities as much as possible. Each deck will not be just a list of the best cards, or “staple cards” in that color. Some things are inevitable, like Nevinyrral’s Disk or Oblivion Stone being part of a black deck (to deal with enchantments), but I will avoid staples and use as many interesting cards as I can. Finally, and most importantly, the deck must be fun and exciting to play or play against. If it’s not fun, what’s the point?

So in short, that is the EDH Project. I have completed decks for these 27 color combinations, which was a big project, and a labor of love.

Below, you can see the decks included in my EDH project arranged by color combination.
