(Editor’s note: Originally, this article was supposed to run the Monday after Unstable’s release, but I got very busy with family stuff. Hence, this was greatly delayed.)
This past weekend saw the release of MtG’s third Un-set, Unstable, and I was hugely excited to play it. I picked up two boxes to draft with friends, and everyone was pumped to roll some dice and assemble some Contraptions. So how did the drafts end up going?
Let’s take a look!
(Editor’s note: This week’s articles were a lot delayed, as I was deathly ill with a man-cold last week. Now that I’m getting better, it’s time to get back into the thick of things!)
Welcome once again to another edition of EDH Hidden Gems, the series where I look at some lesser-known cards that are excellent in multiplayer! This is a look at the reprints from the newest big reprint set, Iconic Masters; I thought it would be a great idea to go through the set, and take a look to find some fun and overlooked EDH cards!
Coming from a MTG tournament player’s background, I’ve always had a spot in my heart for tournaments. I love the excitement of doing well and the thrill of competition, and it’s always been a blast to compete. Hence, every year, my little EDH playgroup has hosted a massive EDH tournament between our decks, to crown a champion. This tournament is called The EDH Battle Royale, and this year will mark the sixth time we have done this.
And of course, it is time for us to begin our war once again! The play-in division has begun, and competition is fierce as each player’s decks vie to win a slot in the main tourney!
It’s time for The EDH Battle Royale VI!
Hello, and welcome back to another edition of EDH Hidden Gems!
Today, I wanted to take a look at all of the new tribal cards from the last few sets.
I’ll be focusing on those spells that can be used to good effect by any tribe (so, nothing that is tribe-specific today, like Liliana’s Mastery). Let’s dive right in and take a look!
With family coming into town, all of my time will be taken for the next two months or so. Having said that, I guess it’s time for a forced summer vacation from this site!
We will resume our normally scheduled programming in September.
So, another round of bannings has come and gone, and we have yet another card finally permanently exiled from the EDH format: Prophet of Kruphix, from Theros block. These will be some quick thoughts about the Prophet, and its banning, and the changes to both the mulligan rules and the color rule.
Happy New Year, everyone!
Happy holidays, everyone! As I gear up to spend Christmas with my family up here in the wintry north, I hope each and every one of you a fun and wonderful holiday season!
Merry Christmas and happy holidays from all of us here at mtgeezer.com!
I’ll be taking some time off from the website until the New Year, so everyone stay safe and enjoy your holidays! We’ll be back with more EDH, more Battle Royale III, more BOO sets, the Fate Reforged prerelease, and just more Magic in general in the New Year!
Just a quick update for now, as I’m taking the rest of the summer off from the website. Hope everyone has a great summer, and I’ll see everyone back here in September for Khans of Tarkir, in all of its bear-punching glory!
