Anyone who follows me, you’ll have noticed that my posts have slowed down in the past month or so. Life has been doing its thing, with my family being sick off and on, my son is getting his final molar waaaaaaaay ahead of schedule (and has been miserable doing so), etc etc.
I’ll be getting back to the Shandalar series and various other articles as soon as I can. And trust me, I am quite excited to get to writing more about Dominaria, since it looks amazing.
From all of us here at MTGeezer, here’s hoping you all had a safe and happy holiday season, and welcome to the new year!
We will return to our regularly scheduled programming shortly.
Happy holidays, everyone!
I’ve been super busy with family stuff the last few weeks, so I haven’t been able to get to this site as much as I wanted. I’ll be jumping back into things in the new year. For now, everyone have a safe and happy holiday season!
It’s been a few months, but MTGeezer is back up and running!
What a summer. I’ve had lots of ups and downs, where I finally met my in-laws (finally, after eight years), saw my baby sister get married, got to game with my baby brother for the first time in years, and a lot more. It was a crazy whirlwind of events, and I’m still recovering from all the running around I’ve been doing.
I’ve picked an excellent time to come back to Magic, from the looks of it. Commander 2017 was a very fun set of precons, and I had picked up the Vampire, Wizard and Dragon decks to game with. I was happy to see that the Ixalan leaks were real (it meant that a lot of fun-looking cards turned out to be real), and judging by the rest of the spoilers so far, it looks like a fantastic set. I’m quite hyped for it.
What you’ll see going forward: I’ll go over the Tribal Throwdown and who won, as we finished that tourney over the summer. I’m going to take a look at Ixalan and my favorite spoiled cards from it and where they fit in EDH. And I’ll be rebuilding several decks that just aren’t performing well enough to suit me (namely my R/W, W/U/G, R/U/G/B, tribal Dragons, tribal Vampires, tribal Spirits, and a few others). If I can get the program working on my computer again, I’m going to try a return to Shandalar this year.
That’s a pretty good start, I think.
MTGeezer is back in business, and Ixalan is a great place to get started again!
Wowee, is it ever an exciting time to be a Magic player!
Wizards has been dropping all sorts of crazy bombshells over the past few days, with lots of exciting news for us to parse through. As an avid EDH player, there is lots here to get excited about!
Let’s take a look!
This summer, we’re being treated to an early gift (depending on how you look at it): this year’s batch of EDH pre-constructed decks, which this year, are tribal decks.
Well, someone has posted some spoilers on Twitter as to the various contents of one of the decks, and these are fairly legit looking… so let’s take a look at them, and see what impact they will have (if real).
I have been a Legacy player pretty much for as long as the format exists, and Wizards shook up the format today by banning one of the format’s pillars, Sensei’s Divining Top.
These are my quick thoughts about this ban.
Last week, one thing I noticed the MTG pros were doing was to list their favorite 25 cards by the year they were originally printed, making very cool lists of each card they enjoyed playing the most in that year. As this year marks Magic’s 25th anniversary, I thought this was a great idea, and a good way to start off the week.
What’s on my list? Well, let’s take a look!
Originally, I was planning to get back into blog writing by jumping right back into The EDH Battle Royale event, and finishing that piece up so everyone knows how that turned out.
However, I feel that it’s actually worth mentioning some other things first, so let’s take a quick detour, shall we?
It’s been a long time.
My computer died on me a few months ago, and in the months since then, my son was born, and he’s been keeping me busy.
Now that I’ve finally had a chance to get back to the site, I’ll be updating everyone as quickly as I can with the winner of The EDH Battle Royale V, the Un-Spiracy Cube, and so on.
Fear not, there will be lots more crotchety Magic to come!
