Rebuilding Firesong and Sunspeaker, Part Two

Welcome to another edition of the article series where I go over changes to my different EDH decks in detail (and where I trash them and rebuild them into something better).

There have been a number of my decks over the last few years that have been on the chopping block after disappointing performances and poor games, and many have been culled or changed. Much as I have done before, I rebuilt decks that just aren’t working; this may involve either changing some cards around deck to deck, changing who the general of the deck is, or completely overhauling the entire deck.

Now, with Rivals of Ixalan long since released and Dominaria out as well, I’ve been going over each set of changes and additions to my EDH decks, and man, have there ever a lot of them!

Today, we’ll be looking at my starting decklist for one of the more troublesome color combinations: Boros’s new Dominaria general Firesong and Sunspeaker! Let’s take a look!

Rebuilding Boros (One More Time) – Firesong and Sunspeaker

Random Friday: Rebuilding Boros (again)

(Due to my forgetting to publish this last Friday, this is going up today. Don’t worry, I’m well aware this isn’t actually Friday!)

Welcome to another edition of Random Friday, the article series where I go over changes to my different EDH decks in detail (and where I trash them and rebuild them into something better).

There are a number of my decks this year that are on the chopping block after disappointing performances in The EDH Battle Royale III, and other various games. Much as I have done the past two years, I’m looking at redoing these decks that just aren’t working; this may involve either changing some cards around deck to deck, or changing who the general of the deck is, or completely overhauling the entire deck. Along that same line, some of the random decks that I built just for The EDH Battle Royale III happened to be awesome and fun, and so I’ll be keeping them around, and tweaking and updating them to make them better.

Today, we’re rebuilding a colour combination that I’ve rebuilt more than once: the Boros colours, red/white. Currently, I have our Boros deck build as Brion Stoutarm, who has been profoundly disappointing. What will I rebuild this deck into? Let’s take a look!

Random Friday: Rebuilding Boros, again

brion_stoutarm

As one of my New Year’s resolutions, I resolved to replace any of my EDH decks that I was not happy with, or decks that did not play well, or decks that, plain and simple, no one liked to play or play against. I started culling my decks with the reconstruction of my Necra deck; I retooled it into two possibilities, Doran, the Siege Tower or Karador, Ghost Chieftain. You can read about my thought process behind the change here.

I’ve been very happy with the Doran deck; it is just the right amount of aggressiveness and silly cards that I like to play.

Now, it is time to change things up again!

Random Friday: Rebuilding my Boros deck

I was very happy with the build of Doran that I’ve come up with; aggro-ing people with high-toughness creatures is a lot of fun, and it has been a blast to play.

It turns out that no one likes playing against my Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer deck, despite it not being in any way overpowered, and quite weak to Wrath effects; I am also the only one who likes playing it. And so, it is with a heavy heart that I put Jor Kadeen up as the next of my EDH decks on the chopping block.
