Rebuilding Orzhov: Triad of Fates

Welcome to another edition of the article series where I go over changes to my different EDH decks in detail (and where I trash them and rebuild them into something better).

There have been a number of my decks over the last year that have been on the chopping block after disappointing performances and poor games, and many have been culled or changed. Much as I have done before, I rebuilt decks that just aren’t working; this may involve either changing some cards around deck to deck, changing who the general of the deck is, or completely overhauling the entire deck. Since early last year, I’ve been going over each set of changes and additions to my EDH decks, and man, have there ever a lot of them!

Today, we’ll be looking at our new Orzhov theme deck, built around quirky Theros legend Triad of Fates. Triad was an interesting deck to build, with an awful lot of cards that could work with them, so I was looking forward to trying it out.

What would this rebuild look like? Let’s find out!

Building 4C: Sidar Kondo and Ludevic

Welcome to another edition of the article series where I go over changes to my different EDH decks in detail (and where I trash them and rebuild them into something better).

There have been a number of my decks over the last year that have been on the chopping block after disappointing performances and poor games, and many have been culled or changed. Much as I have done before, I redid decks that just aren’t working; this may involve either changing some cards around deck to deck, changing who the general of the deck is, or completely overhauling the entire deck. Since early last year, I’ve been going over each set of changes and additions to my EDH decks, and man, have there ever a lot of them!

Today, we’ll be looking at the final new four-color EDH deck that I built: our WGRU deck, built around generals Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa and Ludevic, Necro-Alchemist. I found this deck quite challenging to build, so we’ll be taking a look at that today.

Let’s go!

My Favorite Cards of the Past 25 Years

Last week, one thing I noticed the MTG pros were doing was to list their favorite 25 cards by the year they were originally printed, making very cool lists of each card they enjoyed playing the most in that year. As this year marks Magic’s 25th anniversary, I thought this was a great idea, and a good way to start off the week.

What’s on my list? Well, let’s take a look!

Building 4C: Saskia the Unyielding

Welcome to another edition of the article series where I go over changes to my different EDH decks in detail (and where I trash them and rebuild them into something better).

There have been a number of my decks in the last year that have been on the chopping block after disappointing performances and poor games, and many have been culled or changed. Much as I have done before, this year I have once again redone decks that just aren’t working; this may involve either changing some cards around deck to deck, changing who the general of the deck is, or completely overhauling the entire deck. Since early last year, I’ve been going over each set of changes to my EDH decks, and man, have there ever a lot of them!

Today, we’ll be looking at the fourth four-color EDH deck that I built: our WGRB deck, built around awesome aggro general Saskia the Unyielding.

Let’s go!

Amonkhet: First Impressions

ugin_the_spirit_dragon

Is it really spoiler season time again? That was quick!

The entire spoiler for the newest MTG expansion Amonkhet is out, and this looks like a very interesting set. There are plenty of great multiplayer cards, and lots of shiny toys that I’m looking forward to adding into my decks.

Last year’s sets gave us a ton of fun new EDH cards to work with, and many of my decks got a well-deserved makeover. The question becomes, does this Egypt-flavored set continue that trend, and continue our MTG year with great EDH cards?

It’s time to take a look at this new set!

The EDH Battle Royale V is long since over, and so it is time to finish recapping the tourney!

As a MTG tournament player at heart, I have always had a spot in my heart for tournaments. I love the excitement of doing well and the thrill of competition, and it’s always been a blast to compete when I can. Hence, every year, my little EDH playgroup has hosted a massive EDH tournament between our decks, to crown a champion. This tournament is called The EDH Battle Royale, and this year will mark the fifth time we have done this.

Today, we’ll be looking at the semifinals!

We are down to a mere nine generals left out of 81! Who will win and advance to the finals? It’s time for The EDH Battle Royale V!
