Single Card Discussion: Glare of Subdual and friends

elderwood_scion

Hello, and welcome back to the Single Card Discussion series! After my pieces on Magmaquake and Shrouded Lore, it’s time to take a look at yet another multiplayer gem.

Today’s card is actually multiple cards, as we look at three cards that do nearly the same thing: Glare of Subdual and Sandsower, from the original Ravnica, and Diversionary Tactics, an enchantment from waaaaaaaaaay back in Apocalypse. That these cards aren’t more well-known is somewhat surprising, since they are a very unique effect for white to have.

A second Legacy tournament with Metalworker MUD

tendrils_of_agony

This past Saturday, I had a rare occasion to play Legacy, the finest format in Magic, at one of our local card shops. This was pretty exciting for me, since I only rarely get to play Legacy, and I love old classic cards. This will be a brief report on how the games went.

This would be my second Legacy tourney running a very unique deck, the mono-brown all-artifact deck called Metalworker MUD. Last month, I piloted the deck to a finals appearance, smashing people with huge robots and the phenomenal power of Ugin, the Spirit Dragon (which I’d been so impressed with, I immediately nicknamed it “the best card in Legacy). How would I fare this month, as I once again run the mono-artifact menace?

It’s time for some awesome old cards as we play the format of rich men and kings!

Hello, and welcome back to the Single Card Discussion series! After my pieces on Magmaquake and Flesh Carver, it’s time to take a look at yet another multiplayer gem.

Today’s card is a strange and unusual one: Shrouded Lore, a black recursion card from back in Planar Chaos. That this card isn’t more well-known is somewhat surprising, since this a very unique effect for black to have.

Hello, and welcome back to the Single Card Discussion series! After my pieces on Recall and Flesh Carver, it’s time to take a look at yet another multiplayer gem.

Today’s card is one that I have yet to see other people play at multiplayer tables, which is a shame, as it’s an awesome and unique card: Magmaquake, a very potent red Wrath effect from Magic 2013 that has the unique ability to hit all planeswalkers at once.

endrek_sahr

Welcome once again to another edition of EDH Hidden Gems, the series where I look at some lesser-known cards that are excellent in multiplayer! This is part two of our look at the reprints from Modern Masters 2015; I thought it would be a great idea to go through the set, and take a look to find some fun and overlooked EDH cards!

Hello, and welcome back to the Single Card Discussion series! After my pieces on Recall and Flesh Carver, it’s time to take a look at yet another multiplayer gem.

Today’s card is an awesome and unique card, that is set to be reprinted in Modern Masters 2015: Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder. With an upcoming reprint, I felt that it was time for the Master Breeder to have his time in the spotlight.

Predictions: Modern Masters 2015 — Followup

command_tower

A short while back, I gave my predictions for the cards that I believed would be in Modern Masters 2015, the all-reprint set designed to increase supply of certain cards for Modern (it won’t, just like the first Modern Masters set, but we’ll get to that in a minute.) With the full set having been spoiled on Friday, it’s time to look back at my predictions and see how I did. What did I get right, and what did I miss on?

Let’s dive right in!

Hello, and welcome back to the Single Card Discussion series! After my pieces on Recall and World Queller, it’s time to take a look at yet another multiplayer gem.

Today’s card is one that I have yet to see other people play at multiplayer tables, which is a shame, as it’s an awesome and unique card: Flesh Carver, our first black card in the Single Card series, from this past year’s Commander 2014 set of precons.
