Hello, and welcome back to my Spotlight Series, after a long hiatus! It’s taken me awhile to get back to this series, but I’m planning to jump right in and start looking at other people’s decks in detail. To recap the Spotlight Series, in each article, I’ll be selecting and ‘spotlighting’ another EDH player’s deck, and going over the 99 choices they’ve made and any suggestions or changes that I’d make to the deck were I to play it myself. For this series, I’ll be choosing decks that look fun to play and play against, and decks that have a great theme behind them.
For today’s article, I’ll be looking at a friend’s very unique mono-red control deck: Darby’s Heartless Hidetsugu! Let’s dive in, and take a look at Darby’s deck!
Since I’ve already predicted the contents of this year’s Modern Masters, I figure I’ll go one better and also predict the contents of this year’s From the Vaults: Angels set! How many of the Angels can I get right? It’s time to find out!
This year, Modern Masters 2015 (the sequel to 2013’s Modern Masters), a set designed to increase the supply of hard-to-find or pricey Modern staples will be released. Very few preview cards have thus far been released, with only the Eldrazi god, Emrakul, the Aeons Torn at mythic rare, and Etched Champion thus far being confirmed. (Etched Champion is not technically confirmed for sure, but Wizards has used the card’s picture, making this almost a lock for the set.)
Back in 2013, I had posted my predictions for the original Modern Masters set. I did fairly well; I had correctly predicted 9/15 mythics, and 19/53 rares correctly; this meant that I was 40% right, which was a good enough success rate that I considered this round of predictions to be a success.
With all that in mind, I figured I’d throw my predictions out there for the sequel set to Modern Masters. Today’s article will be my predictions for what will be in Modern Masters 2015, so let’s go!
Welcome back to FNM Hero! This week, I was able to get a draft in of Khans of Tarkir/Fate Reforged, and I had a lot of fun doing so. Here’s a quick rundown of the draft!
Hello, and welcome back to The EDH Battle Royale III! After Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch and Homura, Human Ascendant both won their quarterfinal matches last time, we’re ready to continue; our first match today could be a lopsided one:
Quarterfinal match 5: Karona, False God (Angels) vs. Maga, Traitor to Mortals vs. Kodama of the South Tree
Two tribal decks, and a strong control deck face off today! Who will win this match and advance to face Homura in the semifinals? It’s time to find out!
Hello and welcome back to The EDH Battle Royale III! We are deep in the quarterfinals, and we have not one but two quarterfinal matchups for you here today (one of which features last year’s champion, Saffi Eriksdotter, in an epic rematch from last year’s finals against Homura, Human Ascendant), but our first matchup today is this one:
Quarterfinal match 3: Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch vs. Thelon of Havenwood vs. Gahiji, Honored One
Who will win this match and advance to the semifinals? It’s time to find out!
Today, I wanted to take a break from The EDH Battle Royale III to take a quick look at a fantastic EDH card from Fate Reforged that I’ve been just loving for Commander and Standard play: the red ‘card-drawing’ enchantment, Outpost Siege.
Let’s take a look!
When last we left, Krenko, Mob Boss‘s hordes of Goblins had overwhelmed his hapless opponents, and Krenko punched his ticket to the semifinals.
Today, we have one crazy quarterfinal matchup for you:
Quarterfinal match 2: Trostani, Selesnya’s Voice vs. Karn, Silver Golem vs. The Mimeoplasm
These are three very different decks, with completely different strategies. Who will win this matchup and advance to the semifinals to face Krenko? It’s time to find out!
It’s been a good long while since I’ve had a chance to play a Standard FNM, and so I was a little apprehensive going into this past Friday’s event. Could I do well? Did I even remember any of these cards? Do I remember how to do combat math? Could I even win a match?
Not to worry, for I was running Rhinos, and it turns out that they are good!
Hello, and welcome back to The EDH Battle Royale III! We’re moving into the home stretch now, as we begin the quarterfinal matches, moving closer and closer to crowning this year’s champion! Today’s match is one of the ones that I had trouble predicting a winner for, and should be one hell of a match:
Quarterfinal match 1: Krenko, Mob Boss vs. Mayael the Anima vs. Richard Garfield, Ph.D.
Who will win this quarterfinal matchup and make it that much closer to the finals? It’s time to find out!
