Hidden Gems #15: Multicolor card drawing spells, Part One

Welcome once again to another edition of EDH Hidden Gems! Today, I thought I’d take a quick look at a subject that I bring up a lot with newer players who are getting into EDH — card drawing. Drawing extra cards is a good thing, especially in multiplayer, where every extra resource is a good thing. Today, we’ll be looking at the multicolored options for card drawing spells.

Brace yourself, there’s an awful lot of them! Let’s jump right in, and see what we have to work with, shall we?

The BOO Draft II: Brianna’s Set — Fire Emblem, Part Two

Back in May, I posted about a Challenge format that I was preparing to run, based off of an old Noah Weil article on starcitygames.com about a “BOO Draft.” A BOO Draft, otherwise known as a “Build Our Own” Draft, is a format where you get 8 creative people together and have them create 45 Magic cards (or three packs’ worth) each, and then do a booster draft with the results. We had set up the first BOO Draft in May, ran the draft over the summer, and found the format to be immensely fun.

And now, it is time to do it all again. It is time for… The BOO Draft II: The Obligatory Sequel!

It’s that magical time of year again, spoiler season for the newest set! Magic’s latest set is Magic 2015 (otherwise known as M15), a new base set with what looks like a ton of exciting new cards. This entire year has seen a lot of great multiplayer products released that have been fantastic and fun in EDH, from Theros block to Conspiracy — will M15 continue this trend of great multiplayer cards? As I write this, the M15 spoiler is at 184/269 cards, so it’s time to find out what I’ll be looking for, to play in EDH!

Let’s go!

It’s been a busy couple of weeks, and I haven’t had much time to post. Let’s remedy that, with a look at Brianna’s BOO set.

Hidden Gems #14: Green card drawing spells, Part Two

Welcome once again to another edition of EDH Hidden Gems! Today, I thought I’d take a quick look at a subject that I bring up a lot with newer players who are getting into EDH and like to play green decks — card drawing (or, the lack thereof of good choices for card drawing in that color). Green is not nearly as bad as red or white for card drawing options, but what it does have is somewhat limited, or doesn’t always work the way you want.

Let’s jump right in, and see what we have to work with, shall we?

First thoughts on drafting Conspiracy, and JOU’s Defeat a God

ixidron

This past Friday, I finally got a chance to get my hands on some Conspiracy as we drafted it for the first time. I definitely wasn’t disappointed; the set is fun and challenging to draft and play, and we had a great time doing so. I also haven’t had a chance to update everyone with JOU’s Defeat a God Challenge deck and what I’ve done with it, and I’ll be going over that as well today.

Without any further ado, here we go!
