Rebuilding Izzet: Brudiclad, King of Tokens

Welcome to another edition of the article series where I go over changes to my different EDH decks in detail (and where I trash them and rebuild them into something better).

There have been a number of my decks over the last few years that have been on the chopping block after disappointing performances and poor games, and many have been culled or changed. Much as I have done before, over the summer I rebuilt decks that just aren’t working; this may involve either changing some cards around deck to deck, changing who the general of the deck is, or completely overhauling the entire deck.

Now, with Guilds of Ravnica spoiled, I figured it was high time to go over my changes to various decks that I made over the summer. And this was a pretty radical change!

Today, we’ll be looking at my decklist for one of the most eclectic and crazy generals printed in some time: Commander 2019’s Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer, who has taken over the helm of our Izzet deck! Let’s take a look!

Guilds of Ravnica, Part Two

On Tuesday, I took a quick look at the upcoming set, Guilds of Ravnica, which starts Magic’s third Ravnica block. Many of the new cards spoiled look to be super fun for EDH and quite powerful, and are ones that I’m really looking forward to trying out in my own decks. Today, with lots more new cards spoiled since then, what else do I think looks good for the format?

Let’s take a look!

Return to Return to Ravnica!

Later today, we’ll be getting spoilers for the September big set, Guilds of Ravnica! Since Ravnica is by far one of Magic’s most popular settings, it was a no-brainer that we’d be going back there eventually, and I for one am definitely looking forward to seeing what Wizards has in store for their third attempt.

Let’s do a quick look at what will be in this set!

Sick as a dog

For the last two weeks, I, my wife, and my one-year old son have all been sick as dogs, so there hasn’t been much I wanted to put on this site. It’s true what they say; as soon as your kid starts going to daycare and hanging out with other kids, they (and by extension, you) are always sick.

More updates to come soon, however, as I am finally starting to feel better.

Rebuilding Firesong and Sunspeaker, Part Two

Welcome to another edition of the article series where I go over changes to my different EDH decks in detail (and where I trash them and rebuild them into something better).

There have been a number of my decks over the last few years that have been on the chopping block after disappointing performances and poor games, and many have been culled or changed. Much as I have done before, I rebuilt decks that just aren’t working; this may involve either changing some cards around deck to deck, changing who the general of the deck is, or completely overhauling the entire deck.

Now, with Rivals of Ixalan long since released and Dominaria out as well, I’ve been going over each set of changes and additions to my EDH decks, and man, have there ever a lot of them!

Today, we’ll be looking at my starting decklist for one of the more troublesome color combinations: Boros’s new Dominaria general Firesong and Sunspeaker! Let’s take a look!

Battlebond: Basically, EDH Masters

Last year was a pretty good time to be playing EDH. Lots of new cards have been released that are specifically tailored for our format, from giant monsters, to big silly spells, and everything in between.

As of Friday, the full spoiler for the multiplayer set Battlebond was released, and everyone has had a chance to brew around the new cards for their EDH decks.

How does this set stack up? Does it continue our run of good to great EDH sets? Let’s take a look!

Rebuilding 4-color: The BURG deck (again)

Welcome to another edition of the article series where I go over changes to my different EDH decks in detail (and where I trash them and rebuild them into something better).

There have been a number of my decks over the last few years that have been on the chopping block after disappointing performances and poor games, and many have been culled or changed. Now, with Rivals of Ixalan long since released and Dominaria out as well, I’ve been going over each set of changes and additions to my EDH decks, and man, have there ever a lot of them!

Today, we’ll be looking at what I’ve done with one of the more troublesome color combinations: BURG, which was headed previously by the partners Vial Smasher the Fierce and Thrasios, Triton Hero, and now… well, let’s just say that I’ve gone with a more eclectic deck.

Let’s take a look!

Single Card Discussion: Alms Collector

Hello and welcome back to the Single Card Discussion series! After my pieces on The Eldest Reborn and Dualcaster Mage, it’s time to take a look at yet another multiplayer gem that I feel has been sadly overlooked.

Today’s card is one that I’ve thought was useful in multiplayer since it was first spoiled many years ago, and though it does see play, I’m shocked that I haven’t seen a lot of talk about it. Today’s featured card is Commander 2017’s Alms Collector, from the Cat tribal deck!
